Hair loss

There have been no high quality studies nor RCT-studies published as regards to the relationship between hairs and PRP until recently. Our method is based on Dr. Giovanni Schiavone’s (Italy) research, who is the first to study hair loss treatment with this method.

Hair loss treatment

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is fast becoming one of the most popular treatments in the aesthetics world with its versatility and encouraging results. It is currently being used for skin rejuvenation, softening lines and wrinkles and more recently to increase hair growth and density by stimulating follicular growth. PRP is a safe and natural alternative to a more invasive surgical procedure, although it can also be used alongside, or as part of, a transplant procedure to achieve optimal results.

This use of PRP for thinning hair and hair loss conditions such as alopecia, generating really encouraging results. Further research is still required to support this but existing published studies already confirm increased patient satisfaction and good clinical improvement.

The method of PRP preparation for the face is essentially the same as the hair growth treatment. The GLOFINN system requires approximately 36ml of blood to be taken from the patient and after centrifuging the PRP,  the excess water is removed with the unique plasma filter concentrating the PRP to approximately 8-12ml ready for injection. This system is user friendly and is supported by a good treatment protocol.

Although research is lacking, it does appear that good results require aftercare advice to be followed for approximately 4 weeks post-procedure. There is no research at present to suggest patients should refrain from using topical treatments for hair loss after this procedure such as Regain, Alpecin or oral medication such as Finasteride.

The first signs of improvement are commonly reported at 4 weeks, although it is wise to advise patients not to expect any significant change for 3 – 6 months, which is usually when a visible result can be seen. However each patient is different and the level of improvement and results vary according to patient response and satisfaction depends as with all aesthetic procedures on patient expectations. Generally one treatment gives a successful result. However it is not uncommon to have a second session at 3 months for further improvement.
